Food Assistance, Inc. ~ Groceries on Wheels Receives Gift from Food Lion

Food Assistance, Inc. has received $2,500 from the Food Lion Charitable Foundation. Food Assistance will use the gift to help feed low-income seniors on the monthly distribution schedule.

“This is such a blessing to be able to serve the seniors who have worked and served our community and now need some support from their community” said Jane Carlson, executive director.

“This gift helps fulfill the mission of Groceries on Wheels which offers food, friendship and hope to improve health and wellness to low-income seniors in Guilford County,” said Carlson. “It will help in opening new paths into the community to help reach those in need.”

Established in 2001, the Food Lion Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to improving the communities in which Food Lion operates.

The Foundation places an emphasis on the support of primary and secondary education, feeding the hungry, and organizations that enhance the quality of life in Food Lion’s local communities.
